Although I’m a full-time student and currently residing in Manchester, I will always call the city of Liverpool my home. I’ve spent the past three weeks back in West Lancashire celebrating Christmas and new year with my family and preparing for my uni exams and have taken day trips to my beloved city on a regular basis. Liverpool is renowned for its music and arts, having been a European Capital of Culture in 2008, but beyond the world-famous museums and galleries is art everywhere you look.
An area particularly abundant in it is the Baltic Triangle; a creative quarter just south of the main shopping area. The colours of the street art in the area are so vibrant and I thought provided the perfect backdrop for a mostly monochromatic OOTD.
This simple ensemble starts with my favourite winter coat of the moment; a longline hooded faux fur coat from Zara. It’s super plush and, in my mind at least, the perfect antidote for the January blues. I wore it with a black turtleneck, skinny jeans and a pair of Dr Martens ‘Zuma’ boots. I love the stark contrast between my fair hair and complexion and black clothing and as a result quite often choose a monochromatic look. I added just a hint of colour however with an oversized beanie, appropriately in an icy shade of blue because it was quite frankly freezing.
Peace and love, Bec
